HTS has depot-level maintenance facilities in several locations in both Canada and the United States, including La Ronge, Saskatchewan; Carp, Ontario; Trois-Rivieres, Quebec; and Aurora, Oregon.

Additionally, both the Carp, Ontario, and the Aurora, Oregon facilities feature component overhaul capabilities, with the Carp location capable of servicing components for Bell helicopters (e.g. Bell 206 series, 407 series, 214ST series) and the Aurora location capable of servicing components and engines for the CH54/S64 series aircraft (e.g. CH54A; CH54B; S64E).

With these overhaul capabilities, we can maintain, refurbish, repair, and service components for our helicopters on an ongoing basis, avoiding the need to rely on third parties, while also assuring final quality of the work product. The component overhaul processes are Transport Canada- and/or FAA-certified and approved, and are overseen by a dedicated component overhaul staff, whose sole responsibility is the safe, meticulous, and thorough refurbishment of components for return to service.

The facility in Aurora, Oregon is approximately 220,000 square feet (approximately 20,500 square meters) dedicated to the ongoing support and maintenance of our heavy helicopter fleet, such as the CH54B Skycrane.

Carp Headquarters Facility:

The Carp facility serves as the headquarters and primary support center for HTS. Located at Carp Airport in Ottawa, Ontario, this state-of-the-art facility includes a 40,000 sq. ft. hangar, offices, a parts support warehouse, and a paint shop. The Carp location is strategically positioned to support operations across Canada, providing robust logistical and maintenance support to ensure the optimal performance of HTS’s fleet. This facility plays a crucial role in the company’s ability to maintain high standards of safety and reliability for all helicopter operations.

La Ronge Maintenance Facility:

The La Ronge facility in Saskatchewan serves as HTS’s key support base for Northern and Western Canada. This facility was significantly expanded to include over 11,000 sq. ft. of hangar and shop space, along with a new staff house that can accommodate 12 personnel. The La Ronge location supports operations in remote and rugged environments, ensuring that HTS’s helicopters are always ready for the demanding missions typical of this region. The facility’s comprehensive capabilities include maintenance, repairs, and logistical support, making it integral to HTS’s operations in Northern Canada.

The Pacific Facility:

The Aurora facility, located near Portland, Oregon, is dedicated to supporting HTS’s heavy lift operations and international missions. This 220,000 sq. ft. facility houses a fleet of Sikorsky Skycranes (CH54/64), S53, and S61 helicopters, as well as a separate building for the tanker truck fleet. The Aurora base is essential for operations across the United States, South America, and Australia, providing extensive maintenance, repair, and logistical support. The facility’s capacity to handle large helicopters and its strategic location make it a critical hub for HTS’s heavy lift and overseas operations.

Facility Features:

  • Engine overhaul for the JFTD12 engine equipped on the CH54/S64 helicopters;
  • Hydraulics overhaul facility for the overhaul and repair of hydraulic components such as servos, gear legs, pistons, etc.;
  • Electrical and avionics shop for the electrical and cockpit systems;
  • Sheet metal and fabrication shop for airframe and structural repairs;
  • The largest aircraft paint booth on the west coast of the United States capable of fitting an entire CH54/S64 aircraft;
  • Over 220,000 square feet (11,148 square meters) of warehouse to store an ample supply of spare components and engines to support the fleet.

These three facilities—Carp, La Ronge, and Aurora—collectively ensure that HTS can maintain its helicopters to the highest standards, provide rapid response capabilities, and support a wide range of operations across diverse and challenging environments.
